Deirdre has made a significant impact in Design and Technology education in just two and a half years. Transitioning from a successful 20-year career in architecture, Deirdre brings real-world experience and passion to her role at Parklands Christian College. Her innovative teaching approach, emphasizing social inclusion and global issues, has engaged students and earned her the DATTA Queensland ‘Teacher of the Year’ award in 2024.

Rory Johanson is an experienced Design and Technology teacher who joined the DATTA Qld committee in 2023. He has taught a range of subjects in different states and school systems, which has given him a broad perspective on Design and Technology education. Rory is passionate about providing engaging and effective learning experiences for his students, and he shares his expertise and resources to support other teachers in the field.

Stephen Anderson is a dedicated Design and Technology teacher with a unique journey in education. After graduating in 1990 and teaching for two years, he ventured into small business ownership before returning to teaching in 2017. Currently serving as a Teacher and Subject Area Co-ordinator at Nananango SHS, Stephen is also an active member of DATTA Qld, where he produces podcasts and coordinates teacher awards. 

Jamie Lay is a passionate STEMx and Industrial Design Technology teacher at Ferny Grove State High School, bringing innovation and enthusiasm to the classroom. With four years of teaching experience and three years as a DATTA Qld committee member, Jamie serves as the Student Engagement Officer. His commitment to fostering creativity and critical thinking in students is evident in his educational approach.
