My passion lies in empowering students to view the world through the lens of design. I believe this perspective enhances their problem-solving skills and creativity, preparing them for future challenges.

what is your most memorable or proudest moment from your teaching career?

A highlight of my career was when my STEM students won the Greenhouse Innovators award, organised by IntegratedSTEM. Their project was showcased at the EKKA Education event, demonstrating the innovative thinking and practical skills they had developed.

What resources or advice do you recommend or have to help Design and Technology teachers deliver high-quality, engaging, and effective education to their students?

I highly recommend utilising subject reports for senior general subjects. These reports provide valuable insights into best practices and help improve teaching strategies, ultimately benefiting student outcomes. Additionally, staying connected with industry trends and incorporating real-world projects can greatly enhance student engagement.

Being part of DATTA Qld allows me to engage in meaningful collegial discussions at the annual conference. It’s inspiring to see the high-quality submissions from across the state for student awards, showcasing the talent and creativity in our field.
