Trade to Teach
This program provides an internship pathway to tradies and in turn, assist with the Technologies (ITD) teacher shortages in Queensland state schools.
Applications open
We have now opened applications for the 2025 intake of the Trade to Teach Internship Program, and these will close on Sunday 22 September. Applicants can apply via the program webpage: Trade to Teach.
Trade to Teach is a 4-year supported pathway for skilled and industry-experienced tradespeople to transition to a rewarding career in teaching.
Successful applicants will:
- in 2025 – commence an undergraduate teaching degree (specialising in ITD) at a partner university (CQU or UniSQ) (this is full-time study)
- in 2026 – start a paid internship at a Queensland state school for three years
- in 2029 – start a permanent teaching position in a Queensland state school where we need ITD teachers.
